Heather Bitgood, Physical Therapist

Heather

Heather was born and raised in Rochester, NY where she grew up participating in a wide variety of sports and activities including volleyball, softball, gymnastics, and dance. Following high school, she attended The University at Buffalo in Buffalo, NY where she earned my Bachelors of Science degree in Exercise Science. While receiving my undergraduate degree, She played for the University's club volleyball team and was an active member of a sports science research group. During her senior year of undergraduate school, She was fortunate enough to study and intern full-time under a Strength and Conditioning coach for a full semester where they then hired her on as a full-time coach on their staff! During her time there, She was able to work with and coach athletes of all ages from elementary level to semi-pro and professional athletes in a wide range of sports with specialties in hockey, swimming, volleyball, figure skating, football, and soccer. Following her undergraduate degree and while she was working as a strength and conditioning coach, she entered in to the Doctorate of Physical Therapy program at The University at Buffalo which she attended for 3 years of graduate school. After working as an S & C coach and following my graduation from PT school, She was hired as the assistant coach and Strength and Conditioning coach for the Boys Varsity Volleyball team at my former High School in Fairport New York. They then went on to win the New York state Championship that year in 2013! Following that season, She became the head coach for the 12U boys travel club volleyball team and assistant coach for the 16U and 14U girls travel club volleyball teams in Fairport. Following one season of coaching she got the travel bug and decided to become a traveling Physical Therapist! She was fortunate enough to travel for just short of 5 years as a PT across the western US, including Alaska, where she has worked with a variety of patients in a variety of settings including outpatient clinics, hospitals, and neurological rehabilitation facilities. Alaska's beauty and endless opportunity for outdoor activities is what convinced her to hang up my traveling shoes and come back up here! She is excited to now be a part of the team and family here at Alaska Spine and Pain Center and she looks forward to assisting our patients live an active, healthy life and to reach their full health potential!
